Women and Newborn Care Department More than 1,200 babies a year are born at T.J. Samson Community Hospital, and our Women and Newborn Care Department takes a comprehensive approach to your pregnancy, with:
- Birthing suites
- Childbirth and breastfeeding classes
- A 24-hour hotline to answer any questions that arise
- Lactation consultants
- Family-friendly atmosphere
You can be confident that you and your baby will be cared for by skilled professionals. The supportive staff of board-certified physicians, certified nurses, midwives, specially trained nurses, lactation consultants, and others work to make every delivery a special event in the life of your family.
We have three units in our department. They are: Labor and Delivery, Mother-Baby and Special Care. After the mother gives birth and has had time to spend with dad and family, mother and baby will be transferred to a Mother-Baby Suite. New moms and babies will be cared for by the same expert and compassionate nurse in the comfort of the suite. Having one nurse to see to mom's needs helps improve communication and care.
