Services our team offers

Physical therapy (PT)

This type of therapy focuses on working with overall strength, endurance and balance while performing daily functions. The PT staff will work closely to design a treatment plan with goals that maximize your level of ability. Through specific use of therapeutic exercises, modalities (such as electrical stimulation and ultrasound), and various walking devices, the PT team will work toward restoring the normal function of our patients.

Occupational therapy (OT)

Occupational therapy is directly involved in getting patients back to being as independent as possible in their daily life. The OT team will work to make sure our patients accomplish their basic needs by practicing everyday activities. The OT team will work on treatment activities such as getting in and out of the bed safely, getting to the bathroom in order to use the facilities safely, managing kitchen activities safely, as well as other daily tasks that are important to our patients.

Also, the OT team may use equipment such as a reacher, sock-aide, raised toilet seat, bath tub bench or any compensatory method to assist our patients in reaching their everyday goals.

Speech therapy (ST)

Speech therapists work with patients on the following major areas:

  • Safe swallowing.
  • Language skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Thinking skills.

The ST team will work with the physician as well as the nursing and dietary staff to make sure our patients are eating food that they can safely swallow. Speech therapists will also work on communication and thinking skills in order to ensure that our patients can go home and perform everyday activities effectively.

Activity therapist

The activity therapy program is offered in our Skilled Nursing Program (SNU) located within the hospital. The activity coordinator works with our patients to design programs that provides entertainment while working to improve physical and thinking skills. Programs include pet therapy one time a week, weekly church services for those interested, various group games, and SNU cookouts specific to the patients appetite and diet.

Cardiac rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation is a comprehensive exercise and education program designed to improve the physical and emotional condition of patients with heart disease. Patients who have survived heart attacks, bypass and angioplasty patients, and people with angina, congestive heart failure, and heart transplants are all candidates for a cardiac rehabilitation program. Cardiac rehabilitation is prescribed to control symptoms, improve exercise tolerance and improve the overall quality of life in our patients.

This program is available through physician referral only. The programs includes treadmill and general exercises set specifically to your pace, as well as education about proper diet and nutrition to support healthy living. This program typically lasts 12 weeks.
