Planetree is a holistic approach to medicine and encourages healing in all dimensions—mental, emotional, physical, social and spiritual. T.J. Samson Community Hospital became a Planetree affiliate in May 2004, joining some of the most progressive health care facilities in focusing on promoting patient-centered care.

As one of less than 100 Planetree hospitals in the nation, and the first Planetree hospital in the state of Kentucky, T.J. Samson stands apart for its commitment to humanizing and demystifying the health care process. As a Planetree affiliate, T.J. Samson is partnering with patients and their families to promote health and well-being. Planetree programs provide additional opportunities for both patient and visitor involvement, such as baking, pet therapy and aroma therapy.
Planetree exemplifies a value-based philosophy, giving T.J. Samson an opportunity to serve patients, employees and the surrounding community by providing health care in a nurturing environment. Planetree, founded in 1978, is a nonprofit organization. The Planetree Model works with health care centers to develop and implement patient-centered care in a healing environment.
Planetree has been a pioneer in personalizing, humanizing and demystifying the health care experience for patients and their families. The Planetree philosophy emphasizes improving medical care from the patient’s perspective by empowering patients and families through information and education.
