JCAHO Information

T.J. Samson and HomeCare are fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

JCAHO evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. An independent, not-for-profit organization, JCAHO is the nation’s pre-eminent standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. Since 1951 JCAHO has maintained standards that focus on improving the quality and safety of the care health care organizations provide. The JCAHO’s comprehensive accreditation process evaluates an organization’s compliance with these standards and other requirements.

JCAHO accreditation is recognized internationally as a symbol of quality and reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting performance standards. To earn and maintain the JCAHO’s Gold Seal of Approval, an organization undergoes an unannounced, on-site survey by a JCAHO survey team at least every three years. Laboratories are surveyed every two years by the College of American Pathologists.

If you have any concerns about patient care or safety that the hospital, laboratory, or home health agency have not addressed, we encourage you to share them with Deborah London or Laura Hagan, patient advocates, at (270) 651-4242. Learn more about our patient advocates.

If your concern is not resolved within a reasonable time, please know that you may contact the JCAHO Office of Quality Monitoring by calling (800) 994-6610 or by e-mailing complaint@jcaho.org.
